Make Me Smile International (MMSI) is a non-profit organisation based in Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Since 2012 Make Me Smile International holds the certificate for tax deductibility in Austria. In 2020 the non-profit status/tax exemption was also granted for Germany and Switzerland. In cooperation with local partner organisations MMSI is active in Kenya, Colombia and Lebanon.

Immediate help

Our new partner organization is the Ukrainian Education Platform (UEP). An NGO which has been operating for 20 years in Ukraine. Since 2014 they have been helping Ukrainian internally displaced people in the Donbas region of Eastern Ukraine and ever since have been taking care and supporting children in need.

Right now they are locating emergency shelters for internally displaced people, especially women and children. They have also evacuated 200 orphans until now who could have not fled without their support. All of the people, but especially the children are receiving psychological support. In 9 active distribution centers next to the conflict zones, they are supporting the people with the delivery of crucial medicine and food. 

Emergency relief in Ukraine

We want to stress that the situation is extremely difficult for everybody involved, but especially for children who have been deprived of a home and parental care (and hence a respective family safety network). According to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine, as of September 2021, 68.581 orphans and children, deprived of parental care are registered in Ukraine. In total there are 7.5 million children living in Ukraine.
Through your donation you will be supporting the Ukrainian Education Platform in one of  these three specific interventions:

  • Helping families with children who are arriving in Lviv (Western Ukraine)
  • Supporting orphanages that are relocating from the Eastern part of Ukraine
  • Offer accomodation for people on the move through a network of other partners throughout Ukraine.

The UEP is doing its best to support these areas through the following actions:

  • Money transfers
  • Transportation of humanitarian aid
  • Coordination of humanitarian aid supplies locally (through cooperation with businesses and other organizations
