Himaya

On August 4, 2020, a devastating explosion rocked Beirut, the capital of Lebanon. The explosion killed more than 200 people, injured more than 6,000, and displaced over 300,000 individuals. The impact of the explosion was especially severe for children, with UNICEF estimating that 100,000 children were affected, not including those suffering from psychological consequences.

In response to this crisis, Himaya, a Lebanese NGO focused on child protection, launched an emergency relief effort to provide psychosocial support, family reunification, and other protection services to vulnerable groups, including women, children, and the elderly. As part of this effort, Himaya provided group sessions for affected children, food parcels, and medical care to those in need.

Make Me Smile International was proud to support Himaya’s relief efforts by fundraising on their behalf. Through the generosity of our donors, we were able to contribute to the important work being done by Himaya to support those affected by the Beirut explosion. We are committed to continuing our support for Himaya and other organizations working to alleviate the suffering of those impacted by crises around the world.
